Sound Mixing and Recording For A Hybrid Corporate Meeting in NJ

Project Scope: Deploy 9 wireless lavaliers, 4 wireless hand mics and a PA system for live audience and two-way webcast.
Technical Setup: Utilized Sennheiser and Lectrosonics wireless mics over broad RF spectrum with diversity antennas at stage and back of room. Shure automixers kept open mics limited to one at any given moment, key for suppressing feedback and catching every mic cue during panel discussion. A JoeCo Black Box 24-track recorder was used to record ISO tracks of each mic plus the automix, timecode locked to cameras utilizing Deneke JB-1 lock boxes. Shure WL184 supercardioid lavaliers on all talent, again to suppress feedback, except fireside chat panelists which got OST -802 lavaliers, that better handle severe head turns in a panel. Room PA system rung out with 32-band GEQ’s, one for podium mic, one for lavs, one for hand mics, fed to two JBL low-profile line array speakers, in narrow dispersion mode, each driven by their own amplifier for redundancy. Nothing digital – to me, some digital components introduce unnecessary complexity risk and software risk. Everything plugged into a UPS. Risk mitigation is key, whether the C-Suite is in the show or not. In this case they were.
